GAMES ON THURSDAY 27TH FEBRUARY

Each day after looking back on the games of the day, I will spend a little time having a ‘peek ahead’ of what to look for in the coming day’s games. I will name one player from each position who is likely to exceed their usual production given their upcoming matchup.

MATCHUPS TO EXPLOIT

Randy Foye, PG/SG, Denver Nuggets vs Brooklyn Nets
It’s unlikely Ty Lawson is back, but even if he is, Foye will be a key cog in the Nuggets fortunes. The Nets hae struggled against shooting guards and Foye is one of the best options out there in a short slate of games.

Dwyane Wade, SG, Miami Heat vs New York Knicks
When Wade’s played, he’s been very good. The only thing killing him is the games missed. He’ll lay against the hapless Knicks and they have no way of slowing down the Heat at all.

Paul George, SG/SF, Indiana Pacers vs Milwaukee Bucks
George is killing it post All-Star break and there’s no reason for him to do anything less than explode against the horrible Bucks.

Paul Pierce, SF/PF, Brooklyn Nets @ Denver Nuggets
Pierce has been playing a lot of power forward in the Nets’ small lineups and is actually the 28th ranked player in the past month. He provides good value in all categories and the Nuggets have been defensively hopeless of late.

Roy Hibbert, C, Indiana Pacers @ Milwaukee Bucks
Hibbert is a fairly bad fantasy player most times. Playing the Bucks doesn’t qualify as most times however. If Hibbert is ever going to have a big night, this is it/

PLAYERS TO PICK UP FOR SPOT START DUTY

This section highlight players who are available in more than 50% of ESPN leagues and are a decent option if you are looking for a guy to stream in for a day to give you the edge in your matchup.

If you need points: Tim Hardaway Jr., SG, New York Knicks @ Miami Heat

It’s hard to get 15 points off your waiver wire, but that’s exactly what THJ can offer on most nights. His last three games have been a little quiet, but I’m tipping him to break out here.

If you need threes: Tim Hardaway Jr., SG, New York Knicks @ Miami Heat

Even though he has been struggling, he’s still averaged two triples in those past three games.

If you need rebounds: Timofey Mozgov, C, Denver Nuggets vs Brooklyn Nets

Mozgov will start again for Denver and it’s highly unlikely (read impossible) that J.J. Hickson grabs 25 rebounds again. I really Mozgov’s ability to get a double double here.

If you need assists: Greivis Vasquez, PG, Toronto Raptors vs Washington Wizards

There aren’t a lot of waiver options for dimes on Thursday and Vasquez is the best of a poor bunch. He still could get you five pretty easily, which will help you squad.

If you need steals: Pablo Prigioni, PG/SG, New York Knicks @ Miami Heat

Prigioni would’ve been must add if Raymond Felton was going to miss any time, but as it is, he should remain as the starting shooting guard. He is a chance for multiple steals on any given night.

If you need blocks: Ian Mahinmi, C, Indiana Pacers vs Milwaukee Bucks

In the last two weeks, Mahinmi has averaged two blocks per contest in only 20 minutes of court time. This game should allow him another 20 minutes and a chance to block the poor Bucks’ shots at will.
