GAMES ON MONDAY 31ST MARCH

Let’s spend a little time having a ‘peek ahead’ of what to look for in the coming day’s games. I will name one player from each position who is likely to exceed their usual production given their upcoming matchup, as well as guys available on the waiver-wire to help you in specific categories.

MATCHUPS TO EXPLOIT

Jeff Teague, PG, Atlanta Hawks vs Philadelphia 76ers

Jeff Teague has been a lot better over the last month compared with earlier on this season, in large part due to his increase in field goal percentage and a reduction in turnovers. He’s had the best scoring season of his career and should be able to get the latest Sixers losing streak started on Monday.

Tyreke Evans, SG/SF, New Orleans Pelicans vs Sacramento Kings

Evans almost triple doubled the last time he went up against his old team and with the Pelicans still bitten by the injury bug, he’s going to have all the opportunity to put up a big line.

Thaddeus Young, SF/PF, Philadelphia 76ers @ Atlanta Hawks

Far and away the Sixers’ best player, Young has been a fantasy gun all season. He’s an elite source of steals, on top of the points, board and threes and against the Hawks who are reeling, Young may have a massive night.

Paul Millsap, PF, Atlanta Hawks vs Philadelphia 76ers

Millsap has been quiet of late, but he is best player on the Hawks and now gets to impale the Sixers. He’s going to have some serious value here.

Henry Sims, C, Philadelphia 76ers @ Atlanta Hawks

Sims is a great source of steals for a centre, as well as the requisite boards and blocks. He a low-end scorer as well and should be owned in the majority of leagues.

PLAYERS TO PICK UP FOR SPOT START DUTY

This section highlights players who are available in more than 50% of ESPN leagues and are a decent option if you are looking for a guy to stream in for a day to give you the edge in your matchup.

If you need points: Alec Burks, PG/SG, Utah Jazz vs New York Knicks

Burks returned from his ankle injury on Sunday against the Thunder and has been a solid bench scorer all season. He’s been dropped a ton, so look to add him if you need scoring help.

If you need threes: Richard Jefferson, SF, Utah Jazz vs New York Knicks

Jefferson has gotten it going from deep of late and even the return of Burks didn’t hamper his long-range gunning on Sunday. He hit three triples against Oklahoma and is averaging 2.1 treys over the last month.

If you need rebounds: Jeff Adrien, PF, Milwaukee Bucks @ Detroit Pistons

Larry Drew! With Ersan Ilyasova out for the season, Adrien moved into the starting lineup and Drew played him all of … 15 minutes. In the two previous games he got over 30 minutes, so I’d hope the low total was just an aberration due to the smashing from the Heat.

If you need assists: Will Bynum, PG, Detroit Pistons vs Milwaukee Bucks

Bynum has struggled in three straight games, but I’m banking on him bouncing back and providing a decent amount of helpers off the pine in a matchup that no-one will want to watch.

If you need steals: Corey Brewer, SF, Minnesota Timberwolves vs Los Angeles Clippers

Brewer has totalled nine steals in his last three games as well as being a scoring threat. He should be owned in a lot more leagues than he currently is.

If you need blocks: Chris Andersen, C, Miami Heat vs Toronto Raptors

Andersen has been a shot-blocking machine this season as well as providing boards for the vertically-challenged Heat. With their friendly schedule down the stretch, Andersen is worth a look in 12 team leagues.
