GAMES ON WEDNESDAY 26TH MARCH
Let’s spend a little time having a ‘peek ahead’ of what to look for in the coming day’s games. I will name one player from each position who is likely to exceed their usual production given their upcoming matchup, as well as guys available on the waiver-wire to help you in specific categories.
MATCHUPS TO EXPLOIT
Deron Williams, PG, Brooklyn Nets @ Charlotte Bobcats
Deron Williams has now hit a three-pointer in his last 14 games and has actually picked up his play a whole lot over the last month. After disappointing owners for the first few months, Williams is now the 14th ranked player over the last month and should be able to put up another nice, efficient line.
Kawhi Leonard, SG/SF, San Antonio Spurs vs Denver Nuggets
Against a Nuggets team who could be missing Wilson Chandler, Leonard should be able to have a field day on both ends of the court.
Carmelo Anthony, SF/PF, New York Knicks @ Sacramento Kings
The Knicks were embarrassed on Tuesday against the Lakers, but at least Melo was somewhat productive. I’d expect him to come out aggressively against Sacramento and should look to have a big game.
Kevin Love, PF, Minnesota Timberwolves vs Atlanta Hawks
I’d venture to say that a lot of teams still alive in the fantasy playoffs have Kevin Love on their team and that’s due to his incredible, bounce-back season. The Hawks struggle mightily against big men, so Love will be looking to get his second career triple double after narrowly missing on Monday.
Gorgui Dieng, C, Minnesota Timberwolves vs Atlanta Hawks
Has there been a better pickup in the last few weeks than Dieng? He’s as must-own as they come, with Nikola Pekovic out. Dieng is averaging 13.8 rebounds in the five starts he has made, so he is a great option to start against the vertically challenged Hawks.
PLAYERS TO PICK UP FOR SPOT START DUTY
This section highlights players who are available in more than 50% of ESPN leagues and are a decent option if you are looking for a guy to stream in for a day to give you the edge in your matchup.
If you need points: Avery Bradley, PG/SG, Boston Celtics vs Toronto Raptors
Bradley has scored 51 points in the last two games combined including 10 threes and is close to a must own with the way he is clicking with Rajon Rondo.
If you need threes: Matt Barnes, SF, Los Angeles Clippers @ New Orleans Pelicans
Barnes has cooled off in the last two games, but he is still hitting threes. He has hit two in each of the last two games.
If you need rebounds: Gorgui Dieng, C, Minnesota Timberwolves vs Atlanta Hawks
Pick up Dieng. Now!
If you need assists: Will Bynum, PG, Detroit Pistons vs Cleveland Cavaliers
Bynum has dished 38 assists in his past four games, and while he gives barely anything else, he is a great source of dimes. I wish Detroit would start him over Brandon Jennings, who is terrible at basketball.
If you need steals: Corey Brewer, SF, Minnesota Timberwolves vs Atlanta Hawks
Brewer has turned on his offense in the past two games, but has only registered one steal. I’d expect him to get back on track, sooner rather than later.
If you need blocks: Gorgui Dieng, C, Minnesota Timberwolves vs Atlanta Hawks
Have you added him yet? What are you waiting for?
